What is Liver Pain?

Everyone experiences abdominal pain once in their life. Terms used to describe abdominal pain are tummy ache, stomach ache, gut ache, and bellyache. Most causes of abdominal pain aren’t reasons to worry, and can easily be diagnosed. But sometimes it can be a sign of a serious illness that needs medical attention.

Abdominal pain can be mild or severe or it may be constant or come and go. Short-term abdominal pain is called acute and it may occur over weeks, months, or years also known as chronic.

Ayurveda defines abdominal pain as an imbalance of three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Ayurvedic treatment for abdominal pain uses natural ways to treat the root cause and bring those doshas back into balance.

What Causes of Liver Pain?

There are several reasons for stomach discomfort, including a mild ache to severe cramping. Here are some reasons:

  • Abdominal pain mostly arises due to gas in the stomach, or indigestion.
  • A person goes through serious stomach pain in food poisoning due to indigestion of food.
  • Due to irregular bowel movement the stomach becomes heavy,  thus, leading to pain.
  • Any infection, inflammation, or blockage in the intestine also leads to pain in the stomach.
  • The presence of stones in the kidney also causes abdominal pain which is quite severe.

Symptoms of Liver Pain

Symptoms of abdominal pain come in different forms, varying in location. Here are the main ones to look out for:

  • Generalized pain, i.e., pain felt in more than half of the abdominal area, is seen particularly in indigestion and gas.
  • It is the pain felt in just one area of the abdomen or stomach, or the appendix.
  • Pain, which comes and goes or changes its severity or position, is particularly seen in gas and indigestion during periods.
  • Pain that comes and goes but tends to be severe suddenly is seen in kidneys or gallstones.
